Modern Warfare 3

This has been an exciting weekend. Not only has it been the only one in a long time not to be messed up by some kind of assignments, but I finally got to play and complete Modern Warfare 3 which is , as of now, one of the most exciting games I've ever played. The whole series has that effect on me I guess. It's such a great game and I recommend it to anyone that likes First Person shooters, great stories and adrenaline pumping action.

2d headless walk cycle

Today i took another swing at 2d animation. Needless to say, I still can't draw but as I try to sort my maya out, I'd like to keep animating. It took me about 3 hours to finish this. Afternoon well spent I think.

Mirror, Mirror.. 2d attempt

Thought I'd give 2d a shot once again, mainly to get a better understanding of timing and spacing outside graphs, controllers, and all the CGI stuff. This was actually pretty fun even though I have the drawing skills of a 6 year old. The objective was to animate a character being scared or doing the scaring. I decided to go with both. so... BOO!! LOL..

MC 18 Entry: Pixo jr spy

This is an entry I made for the 11 second club mini challenge 18. The challenge was to animate interaction between pixo jr and a ball in memory of Steve Jobs (Hence the apple logo at the end). I kept the interaction to a minimal and went a little upscale in terms of props, parenting and constraining. I did it it late so i had no time to polish before the deadline. Lesson learnt: Good animation needs time.

Egg Factory test..

Just a little simple something I did to practice animating constraints.
Half an hour well spent :D
I'm  thinking I might take this to a much larger scale when I've got more time.

Just got How to cheat in maya 2010

Oh man, I am super excited. I just got my copy of Eric Luhta's How to cheat in Maya 2010 and I believe it will enable me to get better in maya and use it to create the animation I need. It's no secret that Maya can be quite a challenge if you're not so sure what to do. Am happy to have this book.

Ninja dunk simple render

I finally passed this shot through Mental Ray and After Effects to get a more descent look.

The video (in play blast form) was among those posted to the Mini challenge 16 post on the 11 secong club blog which you can find here.

Crysis weekend..

After watching a trailer for the game Crysis 2. I thought I just had to play this game. But as a sucker for story, I had to get crysis first. And wow, this game is something else. Absolutely fun. Crazy suit modes, awesome graphics and a lot of game play choices. I love games that aren't too linear in game play style. I recommend Crysis to FPS fans that haven't played it yet. Onto part 2 then.

MC 17: Ball bouncing

I took part in the 17th mini challenge. This time round, the goal was to drop a ball off a platform, have it bounce off a wall and then come to a settle. The rest was really up to you. This was my entry

Bloop Shot 2

Don't know what came over me today but I finally got the inspiration to do another Bloop shot really fast. May be am slowly getting better cause I did the whole thing in under 90 minutes which is new for me. Well, here it is. onto the final shot; Shot 1.

Bloop Sequence-WIP

About 2 weeks ago, I started a sequence of 4 shots that was supposed to improve my animation principles. However, due to one reason or another, I haven't finished it yet. I've taken the 3rd and 4th shot pretty far and i should be starting the 2nd today. (Ya, am working backwards.)
Anyway, I will be uploading the shots and finishing this sequence this week. Procrastination's the thief of time of time as wiser guys always say.
Here's shots 3 and 4:

Blogspot again

welcome to my new blog. Not really my first animation blog but after a bit of research, I figured I might get a little more interaction out of blogspot than my other blog. As for the title, It just came to me as I made the blog. I thought, "arnie-mation." It's right there! I can't believe someone hasn't used this before. Anyway, my second year at the university just kicked off so work's starting to pile up. I'll continue to animate and look for help on the forums as I post my work here as a journal.
At the 11 second club, I just got done with mini challenge 16: Slam Dunk. I was a little way out of the box and am happy with that. However, I feel like I could have a lot more body mechanics out of a ninja. Maybe added a flip before the dunk or something. I learnt from this exercise that while keeping it simple is important, if you make something too simple, it becomes boring. Here it is. and it's lunch time so see ya..
